Hi! We’re the Dahlbergs. My name is Kim and my husband’s name is Ryan.
We were married in October 2015 and it has been wonderful adventure, but it seems like a life time! In a good way of course… Trials can make or break couples, and our trials have brought us closer than we could have imagined. We have experienced more than some people will in an entire life time, but we aren’t complaining. God will never give us more than what we can handle and we have found true blessings on our journey as we lean on each other and turn to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to carry us.
Even though Ryan didn’t have kids of his own when we got married, he willingly stepped up to the plate to help me raise my 4 teenagers. He is an outstanding father figure and takes the calling very seriously. This however, didn’t come easy and without heartache. Blending families and life styles is never easy but we feel we have got the hang of it now, at least for today. That is how we live our life, one day at a time and grateful for each one.
Three short years after we married, Ryan was diagnosed with stage four metastatic melanoma cancer. Melanoma isn’t for the faint of heart. No cancer is! They say there is no cure, but we have always felt strongly that this is just a bump in the road and that he will be declared cancer free one day. So we buckled up and threw on a helmet to endure this long and bumpy ride. Two brain surgeries, spinal surgery, shoulder surgery, multiple massive seizures, loss of body function, steroids out the wazoo, infusion after infusion, slow us down but will not stop us!
As if we didn’t have enough on our plate, we followed through with many promptings that we had both had and decided to try to add to our family. Ups and downs of IVF eventually led to a VERY successful pregnancy with TRIPLETS! Yes, Triplets! We feel blessed, grateful, excited, and terrified all at the same time. One day at a time, one foot in front of the other, we will endure and we will get through even this. Faith over fear ya’ll. We have learned so much over the years, but the most important we would both agree has been learning to replace our fear and worries with faith in God who has a perfect plan for each one of us.
While we don’t claim to be experts in any field, we hope and pray that what we have learned on our journey may help you in a small or big way on yours. That will make this all worth it! Have a blessed day!
