AFRICAN food in Idaho! Who knew! This week we met with a family from Central Africa and got to eat dinner with them. All of them speak Swahili fluently and little English. He prayed for us and our food in his native tongue. It was really special! We actually found this family and gave them to the Swahili missionaries. He walked us out to our bikes and exclaimed “bikes!” He then hopped on Sister Allred’s bike and took it for a spin. He said he has not been on a bike since he lived in Africa. It was truly so special to be in their home and experience a tiny bit of his culture. God knew I wanted to go to Africa, I got the best of both worlds 🙂
This week has been FULL of spiritual meetings. I got to attend Zone Conference( President Nygaards last one). It was a spiritual high, my favorite part of this conference was talking about being a consecrated missionary. What are we willing to give up to be closer to God? I challenge you all to think about something you can give up this week to become closer to God. I can promise you that you will all feel so much closer and have the peace we all need in this world. I had an amazing opportunity to talk to my mission president this week. He is an inspired man that always knows what to say. There is real power in pray if we pray with faith expecting an answer
This week we DEFINITELY burned some calories lol. We rode our bikes all the way across Kuna! Not exaggerating in the slightest, but because we did, we got in countless visits, gave out our phone number to non-member people and got service opportunities. We are super determined to find the people who are looking for this gospel. We haven’t seen much success yet, but I know that God will put us in the path of a friend as we keep showing him we are willing. We rode out to the farmland part of Kuna and met this amazing member who had the cutest COWS. My heart always smiles at the sight of cute cows lol.
Exchanges!! I got to go out of the area for the first time this week and it was SO fun! We did some service for a cute old lady by simply walking her dog. We also did service for the food bank for a few hours. Service always brings me so much joy. I have come to really know that when I serve others I am serving God. I had a family laughing so hard we were all in tears! I could not figure their names out to save my life! I was able to share a personal experience I had in the temple that really touched this young convert boy. It was a special moment for all of us.
Fun Moments this week! We had a fun meeting with the little girl named Brooklyn! We sang primary songs with her and she is so good! This girl is 5 years old and has such a special testimony. We felt like we needed to go to this person’s house, they didn’t answer. So, we went to their neighbors house. So glad we did! We met this sweet member named Roz.Roz just had knee surgery and was really needing a visit. We were really thankful we stopped by, we were able to brighten her day and she shared a very special experience with us. Guys God is real and he loves all of his children! Lastly we attended a flea market that was a great opportunity to talk to people!
Lastly to end with a funny and scary moment…. YOU’RE TRESPASSING i’m going to call the cops! We knocked on this member’s door and her husband answered. He was like “How did you Find Me. Long story short… We were not happy camper. It was quite funny to laugh about after the fact.
Hope you all have a good week! congrats to all of you graduating and for the last week of school!
