TRANSFERS! This Tuesday I got in the transfer van and made me way to Caldwell! There I met Sister Turley!! Oh my goodness she is so cute! She is a bubbly little thing! Sister Turley is from Phoenix Arizona and has been on her mission for 10 months. She hasn’t ever been in one place for super long, so she was excited to stay in Parma! Parma is absolutely for me. It is a huge farming community. We drove down main street and my heart just melted. It sure made me feel like home! Main Street has such old buildings, paintings and is adorable. Parma has 3 wards and isn’t as member populated as other areas. There is so much work to be done! I’m so happy to be here even though adjusting is always a challenge.
On my second day in Parma we went to the youth activities. They were doing service in the cemetery so we started walking around to meet everyone. As we were walking we ran into a part member family and we began talking to the mom. She was so happy to see us and was so kind! We had only been talking for a few minutes before she said, “I’m actually so happy I ran into you, Heather and I are going to church on Sunday to talk to bishop. Heather wants to be baptized!” We were so excited! Heather and her mom did come to church and did talk to bishop. Heather is 9 and will need to be completely taught, she hasn’t ever really attended church. SOO we will actually begin teaching her tomorrow!! So excited. This was God’s timing. We were in the right place at the right time!
Another cool miracle was GAIL! Gail lives far from the main part of Parma. We felt strongly we needed to visit her but were stressed about the distance and miles getting there. BUT we followed that feeling and were blessed with a wonderful interaction! She is a nonmember who was investigating the church at one point. Sister Turley shared a scripture, I shared a song and she was in tears. By the end of our short visit she called us her girls and asked when we would be back.
BOM! This transfer we are really focusing on the BOM. I explained a bit in my last email, but we got a new BOM and were challenged to go through a few chapters and highlight all the references of Christ. Well.. Sister Turley and I decided to do it 100% together! We not only decided to do the challenge together but to read the entire BOM together this transfer. It has been a challenge but we are so excited to have this big goal! We are almost in 2nd Nephi already. I know the BOM is true and there are great blessings that come from it.
Some highlights of this week:
Planning in the park! We decided to get out of the house for our big planning session of the week. It was so nice to be in the sun and say hi to some super awesome people. BUT there were crazy caterpillar bugs crawling all over us lol.
District Council! We are right on the edge of Idaho, so all of our meetings are actually in Nyssa Oregon! We are the only set of missionaries in our district that live in Idaho. It is about a 7 min drive to the border. Anyway, it was so fun to get to meet all of the other missionaries in my district at district council and just to see the other missionaries haha.
Jamming in thd car! YES I HAVE A CAR! It’s so much fun to sing together in the car and give ourselves a good laugh between lessons.
Old Forte Bosie Days! It reminds me of Pioneer Days. It’s like a big summer celebration( idk what exactly the meaning behind it). We decided since the entire town was attending, our best opportunity to meet people would be there. So we went and wondered through the different events and even watched a parade! We were successful in meeting people! My goal was to talk to as many people as I could! Sister Turley was impressed and it was actually so sweet. We also got to watch a short play with a few of our friends in it. So so much fun!
OLDIES WORKOUT!? I went to an old person workout this week . Bonnie, the sweet member who we live with invited us to a workout club. Of course we said yes! We walked into the garage like studio and Bonnie was in the front in her purple leggings leading the class. There were 3 other 80+ ladies there. I felt like I was in an 80s movie lol it was an experience to say the least. We did many workouts, lots of them sitting in a chair but I will say the band arm workouts were actually kinda hard. I will never forget that moment!
Also side note, love eating at members houses but this week we went to thr senior center to eat with a friend’s there and…. it was so bad! Liver is not the food for me
Hope you all are having a fantastic week! I love you all. Please let me know if I can ever do anything for you
