Hello from Parma everyone! This week has been a good week but not too much has happened.
To start off I have to share about the 4th of July! On big holidays we have to be home by 6 PM for safety reasons. We do the missionary work that can be done at home. When 9 PM hit Sister Vaea had a plan. She is so cute! She went and got a blanket and card games. She said, it’s the 4th of July we are going to enjoy it! We sat on the front lawn and attempted to watch the few fireworks we could see. We had a lot of fun spotting all the the tiny fireworks and playing uno. It’s in the small moments like this I am most grateful for what I have. In the small moments I remember why I am on a mission and the joy that comes from it.
This week we got to fix our car! Sister Turley had a small accident before I got here and we got to get it fixed this week! Then we had to be adults and take Sister Vaea to an eye doctor appointment . The rest of the week we spent making visits and doing our very best to find people who are ready to be taught. At one of the visits I felt very prompted to share a scripture from my personal study that morning. I was able to share something that that person really needed to hear. Then I was able to promise her a blessing from the same chapter in Alma. The spirit was very strong as I promised her those blessings. I knew that I was supposed to study that chapter for her! God really knew her needs and I was blessed with the opportunity to be his mouthpiece. I have a strong testimony that personal study changes your life.
This week we were able to do countless service projects. We did some painting, weed pulling and cleaned AC filters. I got to be the one that climbed through the small hole to get them. It was a lot of fun actually . Then we went to the youth activity and I got eaten alive my Misquotes in a matter of 3 minutes! Not kidding. The young woman leader came to my rescue asap! Thank goodness they are always prepared. I got about 10 bites on my legs.
A HUGE miracle I saw this week! We have been trying to teach the parents of youth converts. Their names are Lisa and Agustin. Well….we finally had a lesson with Agustin and the kiddos!! We couldn’t quite get Lisa there for the lesson but she came on Sunday! She not only came but she asked a lot of questions to the lady sitting next to her. Afterward she came up to us and she said she was going to write her questions down in the BOM and bring them to us. This is the first time she has even shown any interest! This was a very big deal.
INTERVIEWS! I got to have an interview with my new mission president this week. President Maxwell is so sweet and so amazing! It’s crazy how well we were able to connect. I know that he was called to this mission for a reason. He has very high expectations and wonderful intentions for this mission. He was able to help me with some of my struggles and reassured me that God loves me. It’s crazy how sometimes I teach that principle but forget to apply it to myself. I want you all to know that God is so aware of each of you, and he loves you!
There is true power in FASTING. This week I had a very special and an emotional experience with sister Vaea. Sister Vaea came to me one night before bed and shared some very challenging scary things in her life at home. She said, “I will be fasting this Sunday, will you fast with me?” I was more than happy to be appart of this with Sister Vaea. As we came together right before our dinner appointment to end our fast she just hugged me. There were no words spoken but the love was there. We whispered into each others ear that everything is going to be okay. She then prayed. The spirit was beyond strong and I was emotional. I remember when people fasted for my family and I knew at this moment that it is powerful. Don’t be afraid to fast if you are needing extra help! God is so loving and will help you!
I love you all and hope you have a good week.
