HELLO from ️Star ️everybody! I hope all of you have had a wonderful week and have found something to smile about.
To start off this week I got TRANSFERRED to Star. Transfers were crazy! They barely fit my suitcase in the trailer! That’s how many missionaries got transferred. I’m so grateful I had Sister Vaea as my travel buddy! After the craziness of traveling, I finally was able to meet my new companion Sister Jackson. Sister Jackson is an answer to my prayers. She is the definition of Christ like love. She is a very diligent, obedient, loving and caring missionary. She is from Arizona and has been out for 15 months. She is WONDERFUL! We are getting along SO well and work hard together. Just in the past week we have been able to grow.
The power of PRAYER and SERVICE. My sweet companion is amazing at praying for our companionship. She even prays for us when we’re getting along perfectly. I know that because of her prayers we have been able to strengthen each other. We have also served each other so much this week. We made each other’s beds, wrote notes, sang to each other and laughed with each other. I know that through prayer and serving each other we have been blessed with these amazing Miracles I’ll share with you. When we are united in this spirit we see miracles.
MIRACLES! This week I saw so many miracles. I know that when we are diligent and we show God we can be trusted then he will give us blessings. It has been such an eye-opener for me because of the different atmosphere of Star and my new companion. I know that God has blessed us with these miracles because we have shown him we trust in Him. We found TWO people to teach this week! We through much prayer decided to call a person named Erin. She is not a member but her husband is. We were able to teach her the first lesson at a dog park in about 5 minutes. Those 5 minutes were powerful! The spirit testified to me, Sister Jackson and to Erin that what we were saying was true. Erin needs us right now and Heavenly Father led us to her. We cannot wait to keep teaching her. The second person we found was today! Heavenly Father placed Bill in our path. We were out in our p-day clothes doing everyday activities when we ran into Bill. Bill is our neighbor and we saw him out by the pond, so we decided to talk to him. I asked him about the Book of Mormon and he said that he has never heard of it but he has heard of our church. I asked him if he wanted one and he accepted. Sister Jackson and I carried on and we started playing ping pong when Bill came in for a drink of water. Bill started playing ping pong with us. I decided to invite him to learn more about the Book of Mormon before we give it to him. We got his number and we will begin the first lesson on Wednesday! I know that people are seeking to find this gospel and that Heavenly Father puts people in our paths. We were not seeking to find somebody today but we were ready to share the gospel in real and natural ways.
STL! Being an STL is crazy! It is so much fun but also a lot of work. I have attended a lot of meetings this week in preparation for this transfer. I am over six other sister missionaries and will be the person they turn to when they need help or strength. We have already had two sisters come to us. It is so special to be able to be there for them! I had such love for them and I just met them this week. I am grateful for the lessons that they have already taught me. I will be in charge of doing exchanges with them and I cannot wait! This week I will prepare to give my first training and to lead them. I am nervous but I am excited.
Busy as bees. To end this email I want to share my experience as a missionary. This week I have worked hard to bring people closer to Christ. Our nights didn’t usually end until about 10:00 When they usually end at 9:00. I am honestly exhausted but I have never been happier. We were at Church greeting people when I realized the joy I was feeling. I looked out the door at the Blue Sky and I was full of gratitude. I realized how blessed we are to have the gospel in our lives. This mission is not easy, it can be disheartening and discouraging at times but the joy that we come from seeing the Atonement work through people’s lives is so worth it. Right now we are teaching quite a few people and have so many more that are so close! This is the joy of missionary work, seeing Christ change their life! I am so grateful to be here and for all of your support. I’m grateful to be in Star and I’m grateful for Sister Jackson. I love you all so very much and I hope you have a wonderful week! Remember that when you are having a hard day you are never actually alone.
Love Sister Howick
