Hello everyone! Happy Monday. I truly hope all of you are doing well and you have a good week. This week was a longer week, simply because Sister Jackson and I are exhausted. That being said, this week was a super good week here in Star Idaho.
To begin this letter let me share a MIRACLE with you. Every night Sister Jackson and I kneel at our couch to thank God for that day. We pray individually for all of our friends and all of the people we met that day. We love the time every night to come together to end the day. On Monday night we looked up from our prayer to our phone ringing. Who’s calling us at 9:30? Well it was our bishop! He didn’t even say hello, he said,” SISTER’S we have a friend who we have been working on for years for you to teach. She and her family told us they are ready to be taught and baptized!” Our sweet bishop was so excited, and so were we! We continually pray for people to teach and God just gave us another family who is ready for us! The best part of this was, we met her! We felt we needed to go young woman’s in this particular building. On our way out I heard my name so I turned around. It was the bishop’s wife. She said,” I have someone to introduce you to. It was HEATHER and her daughter Kaitlyn. Talk about being in the right place at the right time. We didn’t even go to her ward but we did go to the right building. I’m super excited to begin teaching this family.
Speaking of that young woman’s night we helped the youth write letters to our friends we are teaching. It was so kind of them to consider all of the people in the ward who could use uplifting and loving words. We dropped off a few cards to our friend Pam. Just yesterday a ward member texted us to let us know that she came to church. She also let us know that Pam felt God’s love this week because when she was having a bad day a card appeared on her front porch. Sister Birch and Pam don’t know that we dropped off that letter but what they do know is that God is so aware of his children. Never hesitate to reach out to someone in love. You never know when you could touch their lives.
One or 2 bananas!? This week I got to serve at the local food bank again. I was so nervous because they asked me to run the produce room. They were so many volunteers sick with covid we had to take on bigger jobs. I was able to figure out how much food each family should receive and it went well. I know that I was being helped because I couldn’t have done it on my own. Serving especially in the community always makes my week better.
Our friend Deanna! Deanna is the one we were able to help out through our bishop. She said maybe I do need God in my life. We had another lesson with her this week and it made me very sad. Not because she was rude or disrespectful but because she doesn’t believe in God. She is the first person on my mission I have taught that doesn’t believe in a higher power. It got me thinking about how blessed we are to know this. I have a testimony of this and I know that God is in the tiniest of details in each of our lives! How hard would it be to not know that? It’s our responsibility as members to share this knowledge with others. I’m so grateful I was able to teach and to testify to her that God does love her and knows her by name. It was a special moment for me. I truly felt that love as I welcomed people into sacrament meetings yesterday and as I sang the sacrament Hymn. Our Savior died for us because He loved us so much!
BIGGEST MOMENT OF THE WEEK: MISSION TOUR! Our mission was blessed to have Elder and Sister Teixeira of the 70s come and do a conference with us. They brought such powerful spiritual thoughts and direction. I felt a little bit spoiled because I am an STL. We got to have a leadership training on top of the conference. It was more of a one on one meeting because there were 20 of us there. It was absolutely amazing. I learned that to be a good leader I must be a good missionary 1st. It’s not my job to tell other missionaries what to do but to show them. My biggest takeaway from this conference was what Sister Teixeria said. “God already told me so….” She basically said don’t dwell on what you already know, what you already should be doing because you already have the answer. So take that answer and build off of it. Keep growing as a missionary instead of keep asking what do I do? I loved this so much because we have so much potential to become the disciple of Christ we are meant to be.
Lastly transfers! Transfers happened and Sister Jackson and I get to stay together in Star. The only change is I will now be the designated driver. Ahhhh! Pray for me lol Lots of other changes happened in the mission. I will be working with 2 brand new zone leaders. The one I was working with is now going to be AP ( assistant president). That’s crazy! I got to play volleyball with them this morning and I loved it. Such a bittersweet day as transfer days always are. Anyway I’m excited to meet more Sisters this transfer:)
Have a good week love you all
