How is it already November everyone!??? Hope all of you had a fantastic week! I am starting to see Christmas lights slowly go up here and I can’t even believe it. I bet my family has ours up already knowing my mom and Ryan! This has been a much better week for me. I am learning how to rely on God more and more and He in return is helping more and more. Just this week I had a realization that I only have eight more months as a missionary! While that seems like a lot I can assure you that it is NOTHING! It actually made me kind of sad, being a missionary is the hardest thing but the most rewarding thing I have ever done. In our district council we talked about what it means to be a consecrated missionary and it really stuck with me. We put EVERYTHING on the altar for God. In the next eight months I hope I can end my mission knowing that I was a consecrated missionary. I have a long way to go but I am super excited to see this change in myself. The talk we talked about was How to become a consecrated missionary by Tad R. Callister in case you would like to read it. It’s amazing!
To start off the week I got to go to the Mission Leadership Council. It is one of my favorite meetings I get to go to. The spirit and the drive in the room is always so powerful. I always feel honored to be in the room working equally with those amazing missionaries. It’s weird though because I am now on the older end of my mission. All of the missionaries I looked up to and thought were the coolest are going home! It was a crazy thought for me! There is one thing that really stood out to me that comes from President Maxwell. In Daniel 3:18 it talks about faith. Faith is my favorite subject in the gospel and one I seek to increase all of the time. In this story the king asks the 3 brothers to bow down and worship his statue or idol or else he would cast them into the fire. They tell the king no because God is with them and He will deliver them. SO MUCH FAITH RIGHT? I love this example of faith but it’s not what caught our eye. In verse 18 it says But If NOT… I love this! Do we have the faith to say” But if not”.. The faith to NOT be healed, to NOT be delivered, or to NOT get our answer. This kind of faith is the most we can have. This is the faith that I am trying to develop right now. Do I have the faith to keep going when it gets hard, when I don’t have success and am asked to do it day in and day out? I have a testimony that this is the kind of faith we are all going to NEED to have. The last days are not going to be easy and we must have the faith to press forward and trust God no matter what. What kind of faith do you have?
A few MIRACLES I saw this week!
Jayden! Jayden is the 9 year old girl we have been teaching. She wants to be baptized SO badly and we hoped to put her on date. Her grandma is the only thing stopping her. She wants her to learn more before she will allow it to happen. She has already learned a lot but we are excited she didn’t say no! When we got there she was working on her math homework, so we decided to help her rather than jump into a lesson. The miracle is… I KNEW HOW to do it! I suck at math and it has been so long since I have done her level of math. It was super fun to help her.
2nd Ward Miracle! A sweet old gentleman was taking singing lessons. In the temple God told him that he needed to sing in sacrament meeting as a way to share his testimony. This was very out of his comfort zone but he did it anyway. He invited a LOT of non-member friends. The missionary team saved seats and even had Books of Mormon to hand out. They all came, all enjoyed it and all got a Book of Mormon all because one guy went out of his way to share the gospel. This is the biggest ward miracle I got to witness on my mission. It goes to show how important members are in this great work. Yes, one person does make a difference!
Members! A member knew that we were having a hard week last week and invited us over. The spirit in his home was exactly what we needed. God places people in our lives to help us and support us when we need it. It was a special experience for us. Sister Woodard is another member who makes a difference! She decorated her house and made dinner and cookies on Halloween. She did this so we didn’t have to be stuck in our apartment. We were able to help her with her humanitarian projects all night. So SWEET!
Exchanges! I had an awesome time on exchanges with Sister Larson. God gives us exactly what we need.
I want to thank all of you for your love and support. It means the world to me
