Hello family and friends! This week has been such a good one. One for the books that’s for sure!
TRANSFERS! To begin this week we had transfers on Tuesday. Not very many words can describe how excited I was for this change. I sent Sister Oliphant home to her family and got my new companion. Sister Erickson is from Phoenix Arizona. She is SO cute, talented, loving and fun! A cool fact about her is she plays softball for BYU! I’m super excited to work with her this transfer. In the last week we have already taught so many lessons and seen miracles together! When I picked her up I looked over at her and said, ” Are ya ready for this day?”. I threw her into Star haha. We had a packed full transfer day ending in a baptism.
AURORAS BAPTISM! Aurora was baptized on November 22nd. I found Aurora when I first got to Star in July. Sister Jackson and I set up an appointment with her because she comes from a part member family. We played a game with them… it was chaotic and honestly horrible. I remember telling myself I’m never going back, they are not ready!! Well the spirit led me back to their house and led me to be bold with them. I said,” Why am I here?” All of Aurora’s sisters didn’t want anything to do with us. Neither did her parents. Her grandma is the only support in her home. When I asked that question Aurora said she is ready for us to teach her. I was in total shock, I didn’t think that would happen. When we began teaching Aurora we found out how much her mom struggled with us. She wouldn’t even look at us. We were scared to progress with her because of this. Every time we prayed it felt right. So we just kept going. We taught her most of the lessons when we put her on date to be baptized. Her mom said yes! That was a huge miracle. She got up and ran around the house. She was so excited!
The 22nd. Her baptism was packed full of family, young women, nonmembers and friends! We ran out of chairs in the Relief Society room lol. I couldn’t believe the turn out. She was beaming! My comp and I taught a mini lesson during the time she changed to keep the spirit. I also got to speak on the Holy Ghost! I’m so grateful for that opportunity. My favorite part of the whole thing was seeing her family run up to her and give her a group hug afterward. Her mom trusts us now, talks to us and even gave us a hug. That is a miracle. Aurora came up to me and gave me a huge long hug. She said you were my missionary. I’m so grateful to have been a part of Aurora’s story. I got to be there from the beginning. It’s in those small moments everything matters most.
TRUST. Over the course of my mission I am learning everyday how to trust in the Lord and how to follow His promptings. I was asked to speak in a sacrament meeting and I pondered about the topic all week. I decided I had done my part in preparing and I wanted to allow the spirit to work through me as much as possible. I jotted down a few bullet points and a few scriptures. Yesterday was a very special day for me. I can say that I feel the spirit worked through me. I’m grateful I was able to touch people’s lives but most of all I’m grateful for the lesson I learned. When we put our trust in God ane prepare ourselves He will provide us words to say. Every single time. He has promised us.
Love you all so much!
