WOWZA! This has been quite the week! One of the best weeks I have had in a little while. To start off this week we had transfers! On Tuesday morning we got all packed up and I dropped off Sister Erickson. Sister Palmer is not my new companion. She is amazing! I absolutely love her. She is a diligent and dedicated missionary. She is from Ohio and has been on her mission for 6 months. After we got settled in, Sister Palmer and I got right to work.
Sister Riddell! For those of you who don’t know a dear sister and friend of mine had a stroke this week. On Wednesday morning Sister Palmer and I began companion study when we received a message from our mission president asking us to kneel in prayer at that moment. Sister Riddell woke up and knew something was wrong she could not speak and express herself clearly. They went to the ER and shortly after the doctor decided it was best to send her to a bigger hospital in Meridian. We had just finished weekly planning when we received a call asking us to be at the hospital waiting for her. It was truly an honor to be the missionary that got to be with sister Riddell. We ended up spending the rest of the day with her in the hospital. I can testify of the miracles that happened in that room. So many prayers were said. Sister Riddell is doing well and is home finishing her recovery. What are the odds out of all of the sister missionaries I got to be the one with her? It was truly a special thing for me. I know and just witnessed that God is a God of miracles.
FOLLOWING THE SPIRIT this week I was able to have some really cool experiences following this spirit. Sometimes I think it can be difficult to know whether it is me or the spirit. I have come to know if it is good or a thought to simply act. God can’t steer a parked car. Because of this lesson I am learning I have been able to see miracles this week!
#1 Car wash friend! I have been trying to contact Yvonne for about three months now. The timing just was not right and was not working out. When we woke up and begin daily planning I felt prompted to give her a call that day. I thought why not? When we gave her a call she answered as she was going through a car wash lol We heard about every other word she said because there was so much water crashing on to her car! Sister Palmer and I looked at each other and just laughed. I was too scared to hang up on her because she never answers… so we nodded our head and said yeah( hoping it made sense). We then told her that we love to share a message with her and ask if that’s something she would like. “Yes, come over today!” We adjusted our schedule and went over to her home. She has two children that are all interested in learning more! We found three friends. It’s going to be a lot of fun teaching this family, they have no knowledge of religion and don’t even know about the Bible. They are so excited, so open and so ready to learn. God really does have a plan for his children and his timing is key.
#2 Basher dude. A guy named Rob left a message on our phone saying that their friend gave him a Book of Mormon and he had a question for us. We called him back and very quickly found out that he had some crazy questions we had never before heard. We said we don’t know but will study them when we go home. On the way to our next appointment I had a very distinct thought of an exchange I had many transfers ago. Was this the same guy? I texted a missionary who might know Rob and sure enough he was the same guy. Rob calls missionaries to bash with them! I didn’t know his name was Rob or the situation but I know it wasn’t me who put that exchange memory in my mind. Heavenly Father looks out for his missionaries.
#3 Last one I promise! We were doing a district finding activity and chose to work through the unbaptized youth in our area. I had looked at that list 100 times! We prayed and both felt good about the same family. I was preparing myself for rejection again… BUT they let us and and we shared a message! They said we could come back! What!! I was so shocked. We were definitely led to that house at the time they were ready to recieve us. Their neighbor was there and also wants to learn.
This week has been and amazing and an exausing week. I know that God loves his children!
